About the Vineyard
David Frost, a Talent for Golf and a Passion for Fine Wine!
Frost bought his own 300 acre vineyard in 1994 in the Paarl wine region and with the help of well known Napa winemaker Jason Fisher, produced his first 3,000 cases of Cabernet Sauvignon in 1997. With a focus on quality, not quantity the wine drew quick appreciation including a rating of 90 plus in a recent Wine Spectator review.
Sharing his two greatest passions, wine and golf, with his native country, David feels very strongly about supporting a foundation that does such a great job of instilling education and life skills into the youth of South Africa.
About the Wine
Wine label painted by the late artist Leroy Neiman, best known for his illustrations that presented scenes of sports and entertainment and the people that brought those pastimes to life.
The 2000 Merlot Reserve was dedicated to one of golf’s greatest, Gene Sarazen. A full bodied powerful wine with ripe prune and cassis aromas, sweet fruit and dry tannins result in a long pleasant finish.
In The Cellar
This encouraged the production of additional varieties. Fermented in stainless steel tanks and matured in small French oak barrels sourced from selected coopers, the David Frost Wine Estate range now comprises an exceptional range of fine, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Par Excellence (traditional red blend) and Shiraz.
